The one in the corner
After college, I (Aysia) moved to Dallas to begin a new chapter. The city was new, the job was new, and home didn’t quite feel like home yet.
Growing up, home had always included a cat. So one afternoon, looking for a little of that familiar companionship, I walked into Operation Kindness to see who I might meet.
The shelter was full of cats, but my attention landed on a small gray kitten tucked quietly in the corner. He had just arrived. His name was Gordon.
When I asked to hold him, he didn’t squirm or climb. He simply settled into my lap and rested.
I didn’t look at another cat after that.

His name became Casper
Casper grew into a cat with plenty of personality. He gives kisses, sits for treats, expects his daily brushing with his very own human-sized brush, loves a good belly rub, and has never met a patch of sun he didn’t like.

To something bigger
Before long, Myles and I were both proud cat parents, with camera rolls full of Casper and an entire collection of his best “I Fit, I Sit” moments.
Loving Casper made us pay closer attention to what was happening to cats beyond our own home.
We saw shelters and rescues working every day to care for more cats than they had the space and resources to support. We began to understand how much goes into helping a cat find a home, and the people and organizations working behind the scenes to make it possible.
We also saw how many people cared and wanted to help, but didn’t always know where to start.
We knew we had a platform that could help close that gap.
The Casper Foundation grew from a simple belief that has been with us since the day I walked into that shelter: every cat should have the chance to be seen, chosen, and loved.
Casper got his chance.
The Casper Foundation exists so more cats get theirs.

We exist to create more opportunities for cats to find and keep loving homes by inspiring more people to choose cats, strengthening the organizations that care for them, and addressing the barriers they face.
