The Beginnings..

When I moved to Dallas after college,
Everything was new. A new city, a new job, and not many familiar faces. It was an exciting time, but outside of work, it could feel a little lonely.
I found myself wanting a companion to share life with. I needed a pet that fit my day-to-day routine, and since I grew up with cats, I always knew a cat would be the perfect choice.
So about eight years ago, I visited Operation Kindness, a local animal shelter, just to see who I might meet.

I was brought into the cat room…
full of cats of all shapes and sizes, each one waiting for a home.
The staff asked if there was anyone I wanted to meet. I walked around, and that’s when I spotted a small gray kitten curled up quietly in the corner.
I asked to hold him. His name was Gordon, and he had just arrived.
As soon as they placed him in my lap, he settled in like he belonged there.
I didn’t look at any other cat after that. It was Casper.
After adopting Casper,
we started paying closer attention to what was happening in shelters everywhere.
There are so many cats and animals who need homes, and so many organizations doing lifesaving work. But for a lot of people, it is hard to know how to help, where to start, or what their support actually makes possible.
We also saw how many shelters rely on donations, volunteers, and community partners just to keep going. The need is constant, and the animals cannot wait.

That is why we created The Casper Foundation. To support the shelters on the ground, to advocate for the animals who do not have a voice, and to make it easier for more people to be part of the solution.
